What's the role?

With the next generation of structural connections, we want to improve the load paths of timber, concrete and hybrid structures. You will drive the next design decisions by combining structural simulations and parametric design. Thus, you will directly contribute to the connection development and help shaping our future connections.

Start date: from August 2024
Duration: at least 6 months.

Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work.

What began as a family business in 1941, founded by brothers Eugene and Martin Hilti, has become a leading industry player with over 120 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 34,000 colleagues. Our incredible journey, from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse, is a shining example of the rewards of a hard-working and dedicated team.

At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our purpose is making construction better based on a passionate and inclusive global team and a caring and performance-oriented culture.

We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact.

What does the role involve?

Join an ambitious and international research team developing structural connections for sustainable constructions.

You will use structural analysis software (e.g. Dlubal RFEM) to analyse load paths and structural performance of building structures. Thereby, you will derive connection requirements and communicate those to our development team. You will use parametric design tools such as Python and Grasshopper to optimize the analysis workflows and optimize the building structure.

Loic, Intern:
“Choosing to join Hilti’s Corporate Research Department was an excellent decision. From day one, I was entrusted with tasks that aligned perfectly with my qualifications. Working independently, I had the chance to contribute to significant projects while also participating in larger initiatives. The dynamic work environment at Hilti fostered my growth in communication and critical-thinking skills, all without feeling overwhelmed by pressure or workload. Moreover, you’ll experience this in a diverse cultural setting—one of the most beautiful places in Europe—while being part of an active and fun intern community.”

What do we offer?

Joining more than 2100 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our headquarters locations in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet.

Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community or joining a leisure group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.
Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, three restaurants, language courses, learning and development training opportunities, tax insurance, financial guidance, childcare, relocation and spousal support, and more.

What you need is:

  • Enrollment in a Master's program in civil engineering, or similar for the entire internship duration.
  • Basic knowledge of hand calculation methods to review a building structure.
  • Experience in structural analysis software is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn parametric tools such as Python, Grasshopper and Speckle.

Why should you apply?

You are someone who is interested in digital design and engineering. We want your enthusiasm to make the future of construction more sustainable.
